I have been reflecting on the past six weeks. I have had the incredible opportunity to work five leadership camps (four with individual bands). I have watched hundreds of willing young people with a desire to develop their leadership skills blossum into eager and equipped young leaders. I have listened as they shared with their directors their desire to HELP the directors, to be models for their peers, and to give to and earn the trust of those they are to lead. I have watched them grow from being individuals to be a community of young leaders - a team- with a united focus to help their band. I have watched them grasp the idea of giving of oneself, to lead from a position of humilty, and to care for those you lead. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Sometimes I think I learn as much from the camps as they do!
