I have come to the realization that for all the changes or developments that NGOs puport to promote, they operate in such a manner to ensure that there is no transformation of society. They will talk about development etc but in reality are not very interested in a country becoming developed. The NGOs operate in the AID industry, which is renowned for cultivating a culture of dependency among the recipents of any Aid. The obvious result of dependency is more dependency, in such a vivious cycle that the recipients become very comfortable and enjoy the fruits of their dependency. Meanwhile, the perpetual existence of Ngos is guranteed and with that , the heavy sums of money that they receive of their donors. There is no country that am aware if that has developed because of Ngos or the aid industry. NONE! What we fail to see is that because NGOS is big bussiness, there are no real efforts being exerted to solve the current problems they purport to tackle. Instead they will extend alot of Help , but the nature of this help is not to solve the problem but rather to simply as if to ease it. . Just a bit for them to say they are doing something. But they will not support or extend any solutions which can really solve these problems. Instead they cultivate dependency knowing that they will always be needed. And hence, always be in big bussiness. If you think that the aid industry is there to really HELP you are misguided and have fallen for their trap. The reason as to why it began, is to simply provide employment! UNDP, WFP, Save the children, USAID, DFAID?(UK) etc... the reason why they were really started, the hidden motives was to really benefit the citizens of these countries with employment and perhaps this is the reason why they continue to exist. Some of you may find this as bordering on conspiracy but I suggest you think harder and research more. In this context, majority of these international NGOs insist on expatriates in their projects as if a right for their successful existence. And if its not employment, then somehow their industries , businesses , citizens have to benefit in some way. USAID presents a very good example. The agency is known for the serious projects it has worked on. Of interest is its aid projects, several tonnes of oil, maize flour etc are distributed by USAID to many needy areas. That is very admirable but thats not what concerns me, its the origin of these products. For maize flour, for all the growth and capacity of uganda to provide tonnnes of maize if needed, instead these developing countries are ignored. The USA spends millions of dollars being its farmers to produce maize, puts them on trucks from kansas etc until they reach a port from where they are put on vessels and despite the heavy amount of money involved in transport, they are then brought to Africa, all the way from USA. Am curious, is uganda or are other african countries unable to grow maize etc and then provide the flour? But you see helping usn is not their real aim. Remember a culture of dependency has to be maintained, because many people are earning tonnes of money from the perpetual underdevelopment of african countries. I could go on and on but am tired even speaking about it....but what else would anyone expect? how can Ngos really solve these problems and yet by doing that the industry on which they survive on will go BANKRUPT! So, it really goes aganist their own survival instincts. Poverty and human suffering is really BIG BUSSINESS. Dont be decieved by the emotional black mail that many of these Ngos provide, it is not to really help people but rather enrich themselves and perpetuate tbeir existence and then as a by the way, help people. You may ask where do we start if we really one to develop our country, the answer lies in ridding ourselves of this dependency menace.
