I have increasingly noticed the following line being used by pro-Israeli propagandists/ Israeli Sympathisers : More than 150,000 have died in Syria over the past 3 years, more are still dying! Why are you picking on Israel?! Israel have only killed 2,000 in barely a month! This is hate on Israel!. Like many of the Zionist arguments, this would be pretty amusing if it was not costing hundreds of lives every day. This argument attempts to justify one countrys massacre by pointing out that there are worse massacres happening elsewhere. This is the thinking of someone who has already been brainwashed and dehumanized to the point where lives- real, breathing, feeling, talking, familial, suffering human lives are nothing more than numbers, and the higher the number, the more attention that number should get. The numbers are irrelevant. Murder is murder. Mass genocide is mass genocide. Infanticide is infanticide. It is wrong wherever and whenever it happens. However, when you: 1) try to justify it 2) keep it ongoing for 70 years 3) allow no refugees and barricade people in a 4km wide strip of land 4) treat them like animals by restricting the amount of food allowed in through calculating daily calorie intakes 5) use shameless propaganda to blame the victims 6) receive annual foreign aid worth more than $3 billion from taxpayers money to fund your institutionalised genocide 7) receive support for your racist apartheid state by the West who usually stand against such ideologies- the hypocrisy here is glaring 8) kill children in their sleep while they are sheltered in UN facilities 9) use illegal weaponry including phosphorous gas and flechette bombs 10) have a population who are actively celebrating the death of children 11) ignore UN sanctions 12) go back on every international treaty you have ever signed 13) betray ceasefires 14) break international law more than 70 times 15) ignore all international pressure and demonstrations 16) and reinvent Nazism on a national scale You have pretty much guaranteed yourself particular attention. So congratulations. Having said that, Syria, and everywhere else where people are suffering are in our hearts, our prayers, and our minds. Israels atrocities do not make us forget, they only help us remember. They help us remember that somehow humanity has betrayed itself.
