I have significantly limited my FB use with the intention of being vigilant in my prayers as i watch world events unfold. While I remain ever grateful to have been born in the United States where I have the freedom to choose my faith, I cannot help but acknowledge that there will soon come a time when my choice may require more than lip service. That day has come for Iraqi Christians as they have been issues a warning by Islamist militant group ISIS to accept Islam, pay a higher jizyah tax for protection, or to face death by the sword. The order gives the Christian minority until noon today to meet the terms. Although I understand that under Sharia law Islamic states have always imposed the jizyah to non-Muslims under the dhimma contract and have enforced nonpayment with force, I am personally and painfully aware that there is a shifting in the winds in the East and that the shift comes with the threat of death by the sword. You see, ISIS is making good on an ancient promise because death by the sword in Islam means beheading. Please join me in prayer that the Lord of Hosts will have mercy on those suffering around the world in the wake of all this weeks recent events and that our hearts be not hardened to truth, for none of us is promised tomorrow.
