I have some very good news. Many of us have been very concerned about our Sadie in the park on King St. She is about 130 years old and if she is to remain standing, she really needs some help. Last week I contacted Councilman Dan Spencer. I explained Sadies history and that something has to be done to save her. I offered some suggestions and also explained to Councilman Spencer that I asked Mike Barron of Barrons Iron Works on Water St. to look at Sadie. Mr. Barron told me that Sadies left arm is damaged at the elbow, you can see it in this photo, and needs emergency repair. Councilman Spencer, a member of this group, promised to present this to the council to see if they would approve Sadies repair and other things we suggested. Councilman Spencer contacted me and was happy to report that Gloucester City council has approved the work needed to preserve Sadie. I have to set up a meeting with Mr. Spencer, Mike Barron and others to get this moving. Sometimes we complain about those in Government, but I have always found, over the years, those in city government to be very helpful. A big thank you to Councilman Spencer, Mayor James, and the entire City council for their concern and help with this issue!!!!!!!!
