I have thought on this a lot lately. How much should we care what others think of us? This is the conclusion I have come to: 1. Everyone is not going to like you or want to be your friend. No matter how perfectly you behave or try to be likeable...there will be people that dont like you and sometimes for a reason even they cant explain. Thats OK. So dont try to make everyone like you. Be you...and those who are supposed to be in your life...will be in your life. 2. Just as you are not worthy to judge anyone...no other human is worthy to judge you. They will. Thats OK. People who love you will love you in spite of mistakes you make...in fact they will often look for ways to defend you or at least pat you on the back and say, Ok, you messed up. Im here. How can we fix this? But people who judge you maliciously fall into the 1. They werent going to like you any way. They were going to secretly take pleasure when you stumble and will enjoy or at the very least be indifferent to your trials. Thats OK. They arent a part of your life and the circle of people that love you. 3. When you apologize to a friend/loved one...often they have already forgiven you. (I am not talking about serious issues here...just hurt feelings.) The apology is the right thing to do...and your business. Whether someone accepts your apology or not is theirs. If they dont...they obviously dont want to be in your life...and thats ok...see 1. I think we spend far too much time worrying about what people who dont care about us think...and should invest the time and energy wasted on that...loving those that love us.
