I have to get on my soapbox for a minute this morning over the backlash from Emma Thompsons comment. I dont know what people would do these days without something to complain about. It was a comment she made about her life and her choice. Of course she understands there are a lot of moms out there that dont have that luxury and have to work, to think she doesnt is idiotic. All those Moms that are getting upset by it need to calm down. If you are truly honest about her core statement you know it is true. We could all be better Moms if thats all we had to do. Unfortunately, myself included, thats not an option and I work everyday to be the best Mom I can. There are tons of things I would like to do with Addison if I could find the time. The fact that I dont always have the time because Im working doesnt make me a bad Mom and she wasnt suggesting that in her comment either. If I didnt have to work I could be Super Mom, but thats not realistic for most of us but if you work everyday to be the best Mom you can under your individual circumstances then thats all you can do. If you are getting upset over her comment then that says more about you and your own guilt than it does her. I work hard as a single Mom and I take no offense to her comment because I know Im being the best Mom I can to my daughter. I teach her to be a good person, to work hard and to stand up for what she believes in. I also teach her to not be sucked in my the bitterness and hate that seems so prevalent in this day and age. The people that are complaining or making a big deal out of this should be better role models for their own kids and let it go.
