I heard the phrase pioneers of the faith several times this weekend. I am so blessed to have many pioneers of faith that have gone before me. Three that hold a VERY SPECIAL place in my heart are Agnes Sis Curlee..my granny...she served God with a love and confidence that was contagious...she had a made up mind that heaven was going to be her home no matter what! She had words of praise on her lips until her dying breath! I cherish the example she set for me! The other two are James and Laura Hamblin my other Granny and Papaw....dont laugh family....make no mistake about it Laura Lu was a pioneer of the faith...her quiet matter of fact demeanor served her well in her years of ministry along side the fireball preacher she was married to. She was a help mate who I watched take care of her family husband and church until her health would no longer allow her to do so...and what to say about James Hamblin in just a few words...he was my hero!! I knew from an early age that I would follow in his footsteps and be in ministry. As a child I didnt always understand the sermons or the move of the spirit but I always knew I wanted to be right in the middle of what he was doing!! As a teenager I would get a little nervous when I would get around him because I always knew that he had been talking to the Lord about me....and all of his children and grand children...he would always say...whats going on...and then proceed to read my mail and tell me what was going on before I even said a word. A moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life is being in the ICU at Baptist Hospital when Papaw was in his last hours here on this earth and he described to us that he was in the Throne Room and described feeling joy unspeakable and full of glory!! Their examples are what keep me going when times get tough!!! I thank the Lord for them and the other Pioneers of Faith that have helped to shape my life!!!
