I hope everyone has a chance to see the Cesar Chavez film this weekend. Both of my wonderful parents were supporters of the movement, and I marched as a teen in McFarland (1988) when Cesar Chavez, Jesse Jackson, Esai Morales, and many, many others came to speak at the MHS football field. My father Arturo also worked for the Perelli-Minetti winery in Delano during early years helping delegate early contracts between his winery and the UFW. I know Im not the only Central Valley native with a unique experience to share. So much amazing history we all tend to forget. This is a good moment to remind our young people how far this area has come. Peace to Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and all those who continue working tirelessly for fairness, equality, and justice... Paz.
