I hope people find this image as fascinating as I do. It shows the Prototype `Deltic` on test between Shipley and the Settle - Carlisle route (Shipley triangle was used for turning purposes). It is passing Saltaire Road School which I attended at a later date and did a lot of railway observation, some during lessons!!! The chapel on the site of what is now a garage next to the school is shown , and you can see St Pauls church on the horizon. The locomotive is preserved as part of the National Collection, normally based at York NRM, but currently outshopped to the annexe at Shildon in Co Durham.
