First time I came across this quote I was surprised at how male chauvinist this quote was. But, then, putting a little mind to it, I realised that I would be surprised if I found too many quotes that were more feminist in approach. Do you realise how favourable it would be for a woman to be a fool? It will open an entire universe of opportunities for a woman to be independent. You cant order a fool to do your bidding. Fools can do that. Even her companion will not be too tempted to talk down upon her, for whoever argues with a fool cannot be less foolish himself. What could give more freedom to a woman to mark the entire home as her own territory than the fact that shes a fool? So, what could be better for a woman than being a fool? Oh, you deceiving feminist, Fitzgerald!
