I hope you ALL had a productive week and enjoyed the first snow storm of the winter season. On Monday, I met with our team of deans, Director of Marketing & Communications, and the Executive Director of Friends of Saint Paul College Foundation to make preparations to host a group of educators from Basque Region of Spain next week. The purpose of this meeting is to pursue educational partnership with the Basque people. I also met with the Presidents of Minneapolis Community and Technical College, Metropolitan State University to discuss collaboration and partnership among our three institutions. On Tuesday, the College was closed in observance of and in celebration of the Veterans Day. I traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Fall Conference. I currently serve on the AACC Diversity Commission. I also attended the following workshops on Wednesday and Thursday that focused on the 21st Century Commission on Community Colleges action plans: • Leading and Intensified Commitment to College Completion • Strengthening College Readiness • Design and Implementation of Pathways • Strengthening Community College Accountability • Creating a Seamless Educational and Career System • Building Stackable Credentials and a National Credentialing System Several of Saint Paul College’s long range strategic goals support and promote the 21st Century Commission action plans. We are grateful to all of our brave and unselfish veterans for their service and we applaud their contributions to protect our much cherished democracy and freedom. I am grateful to our members of Executive Leadership Team, members of our college community, and our students who were present at this event. Many thanks to our VP of Academic Affairs, who gave the key note at this event. In the evening, the College hosted the very popular, annual, college Open House. 224 members of our community braved the cold to come to Saint Paul College. Many thanks to all of our staff, faculty, and administrators who actively participated at this event and hosted our guests at the College. On Thursday the College hosted the World Usability Event.” Many thanks to our student leaders, Student Life Director, students, and VP of Academic Affairs who gave the college key note on my behalf. In the afternoon, the College Management Team met and worked on several projects that support the College’s long range strategic goals. On Friday, I met with the CEO of a Community Based Organization, and a team from MCTC to discuss Workforce Training partnerships. In the afternoon, I met with the President/CEO of Hennepin County Medical Center to discuss Workforce Training.
