I just cant help myself... ;) Offering Our Little to Bless Many: And getting out, {Jesus} saw a great crowd, and He was moved with compassion for them because they were like sheep not having a shepherd, and He began to teach them many things. And when the hour had already become late, His disciples came to Him and said, This place is deserted, and the hour is already late; Send them away so that they may go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy for themselves something to eat. But He answered and said to them, You give them something to eat. And they said to Him, Shall we go away and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat? And He said to them, How many loaves do you have? Go and see. And when they found out, they said, Five, and two fish. And He took the five loaves and the two fish and, looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among all. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve full hand-baskets of the broken pieces of bread and of the fish. And those who had eaten the loaves were five thousand men Mark 6:34-44. We all know that the Lord used five loaves and two fishes to feed the five thousand MEN (vv. 38-42). This is a typical Hebraic way of numbering the Israelites so this number DOES NOT include the women and children. The number could actually exceed 15,000!. Now, the miracle was MORE miraculous than we first perceived!!! John 6:9, tells us that these five loaves were barley loaves. In figure, barley typifies the resurrected Christ (Leviticus 23:10; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23). Thus the barley loaves signify Christ in resurrection as food to us. The loaves are of the vegetable life, signifying the generating aspect of Christs Life, but the fishes are of the animal life, signifying the redeeming aspect of Christs Life out of our watery death-state. Listen: And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men Mark 1:17. ”...fishers of men? Think about it my friends... But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked Isaiah 57:20-21. Amen! There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked Isaiah 48:22. Jesus explained, Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord Matthew 13:47-51. Oh, how I pray we do. The water is an unnatural element for humans. This is our death-state my friends and we need to be raised from this death-state and so the symbol of baptism! We need Gods PEACE from this sinfully cruel and wicked environment in which we DO NOT BELONG! Pull us up Father and help us as Your children to fully appreciate our resurrection in Jesus!!! Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection Romans 6:3-5. To satisfy our spiritual hunger, we need Christs generating Life as well as His redeeming Life. Both of these aspects are signified by small items--loaves and fishes. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour (aid, relieve, help) them that are tempted Hebrews 2:14-18. The five loaves and two fishes also indicate that whatever we have of the Lord we need to bring to Him so that it may become a great blessing to many others. The Lord often uses what we offer to Him to provide for the need of others. We should not look down on our experience and say, We dont have much of the Lord. We have not experienced much of Him. Look at what the Lord can do with five loaves and two fishes. The Lord does not require more than we have. If we give Him what we have, He will bless it. When we present what we have to Him, He will pour out the blessing, bestowing His unlimited blessing on what we present to Him.
