I just had a crazy, snarky, but possibly good idea. First of all, I believe that the majority of police officers are good people. I believe a small portion of them are good people who do bad things in moments of stress (so should be in another line of work) and an even smaller sample are genuinely malevolent people. With that caveat out of the way, here is my idea. In these days of SWAT raids in quiet residential communities, suspects (allegedly) shooting themselves while handcuffed and in custody, beatings and deaths at the hands of police for what seems like they should be simple arrests, would it not be wise for every police vehicle to be accompanied by an ambulance? Maybe less people would wind up dead that way?!?! Im in favor of significantly less police brutality and less militarization of police forces, but if we can only get a small start, Ill take less dead people, even if they are suspected/accused of crimes. Seems like maybe the emergency medical industry needs some lobbyists.
