I just had a person of liberal persuasion....and I know because they made fun of Fox News and called names....to say that Jesus was a socialist because he had compassion on the poor, and the outcasts, and the sick, and otherwise. The problem is that Jesus did that because that was His nature...and because He was God in the flesh...the God that is love...not just to make Him feel warm inside and to claim the moral high ground. Jesus had little to nothing to say about government...Rome or otherwise....He did say give unto Caesar that which is Caesars and give unto God that which is Gods...which hardly qualifies as socialism. Jesus preached the gospel of the Kingdom...not the gospel of socialism. And the great apostle Paul said, if one does not work, they should not eat....hardly a statement from a socialist. Jesus died for the sins of the whole world...and paid the ultimate price that one glorious God would be ALL-IN-ALL, as all things to all people. Not that government would be all in all. I dont think liberals get it at all....they attempt to quote the Bible when it is convenient....but leave it strictly alone when it does not fit their purpose.
