I just had one of the scariest experiences of my life. I was driving to visit Robbie and my jaw got stuck open well eating a strawberry. My jaw went out of alignment when I opened it too wide, and it would not close. (big strawberry) It has happened to me many times before, but never to this degree. This all started when I was about 19 yrs old, at the dentists office. They were working on one of my back molars and my jaw got stuck open. It still happens but usually only lasts for about 20-30 seconds and then I can get it back in place. But not this time. I tried to fix it while driving but it would not go back. The pain is hard to even describe. After driving a few more blocks, panic really started setting in. I pulled over into a parking lot and tried frantically to fix it, but it would not go back. I started crying and screaming as my heart rate went up fast. I drove back towards work, to the firehall that is nearby. I ran around the building until I could see the firemen in a window. I waved them out and then I had 5 guys trying to calm me down, I was crying, shaking and almost hyper-ventilating. They were not authorized to help me, so they called an ambulance. By the time the ambulance came, I think it had been a least 45 minutes since my mouth had been stuck open. I was in so much pain and still having trouble calming down. My body has never been in panic like that, it is very traumatizing. They put me in the ambulance and were telling me about the fee for the ambulance, when suddenly my jaw corrected itself. I am still in severe pain and I cant stop crying. Has this ever happened to anyone else and do you know of a quick fix? I realize this doesnt sound as dramatic as it really was but believe me.. It was horrible :(
