(I just posted this on a discussion with Ginger & Lacey. It is worthy of using as my main status...) I treat SDCC and Wizard World Cons like I treat white chocolate...theres no such thing as white chocolate. It is, essentially, melted vanilla chips. BUT: people LOVE chocolate, so they use chocolate in the name to make it sell. Same with SDCC & any WizardWorld Cons: theyre NOT COMIC conventions. Theyre Pop Culture conventions. Honestly, what do wrestlers, Christopher Lloyd, Whoopi Goldberg, etc. have to do with comics?? Im not saying that they are wrong for organizing these things (personally, I have no desire for them). I just disapprove of disguising (i.e.--lying to people) these things as comic cons (which have gained popularity) in order to sell their products. Having been a comic collector, I am VERY protective of the name comic convention. Events like SDCC and WizardWorld Cons have bastardized what they SHOULD be about--the artists and the writers and the comics. I will now step down from my soap box...
