I just sent the following letter to the Port of Vancouver - TopicsExpress

I just sent the following letter to the Port of Vancouver Commissioners and encourage all of you to do the same. Commissioiners: I respectfully request that you stop the intended oil terminal process. The facts have presented themselves clearly enough to know that this is not what is best for our community. Not only is it unsafe (not the kind of accident one says oops and then picks up where you left off - it is also detrimental to the liveability of the town itself. I would never want to own a condominium located on a waterfront that has that much oil in what would be a blast zone for me. The people along the tracks, including the folks with high end real estate on Evergreen Highway between the river and the tracks, would be in jeopardy. The proposed downtown riverfront development would either be cancelled altogether or built and no one would come. I have taken the position all along that you wanted this before you knew pertinent facts that would undoubtedly have had you make a different decision. I give you the benefit of the doubt because you are citizens of Vancouver yourselves and what is best for our community is best for you and your families. I shall trust that you are going to reverse yourselves in this important matter.
