I just spent a few hours with the McAteer family. I arrived to find Pam & Marks family working together cleaning, working & planning. Everyone had their part, no one complained or bickered. When one stopped to admire pictures or tell a story, another would stop, listen, & share. They nourished each other. Hugs, tears, & laughter were ever present. No one was too busy with their task at hand, not to stop & comfort another. Before I left, Pam could sense my feelings, and said, Kim wants to say something, I know it. I made little of it because I couldnt describe what I was feeling. Many people have said before that Pam & Mark shared a relationship that they strive for in their own. But something really struck me as I watched their family today. Selfless & unconditional love for Mark & his wishes. Mutual respect & devotion to each other. Love, courage, & assurance to Pam that life moves on.
