I just want to thank everyone who came out to the Dutchess County Fair to see Marty and show their support for the DCSPCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A lot of people donated and it is greatly appreciated and helps a lot of dogs and cats. Marty became a small celebrity this week. We got a few plugs on the radio and got to go up on stage before the dock diving events. People were waiting to see him every day before he arrived. It took us 30 minutes to go a 1000 feet to the tent one of the days because so many of you wanted to meet him. He held up great and interacted with a ton of people. He constantly made the right decisions and I am very proud that whenever he was unsure he looked to me for how to proceed. A lot of this has to do with his genetics, but there is a part of the equation that magnifies this even more. I have taken the time to build a bond with him built on trust and respect. He trusts me enough to not react to situations because he knows I am capable and will keep him out of a bad situation. I had tons of people comment on how calm he was. The only reason he was/is calm in these situations and can tolerate them for hours is because I meet all his needs for exercise and obedience every single day without fail. Many people would honestly be scared if they saw how intense his drive is and how fast and athletic he is. But that is one reason why he is so special. He will turn it on and off for someone if they understand him and he trusts them. As for the shirt...well...sometimes you just have to do things to help your fellow shelter dogs!!! LOL!!! It was his first time wearing one and he took it in stride. Thanks for looking and thank you again to everyone who supported us! JOSH-
