I just watched a video footage of the altercation between Eric Garner and the policemen multiple times. If you see the way he was unprofessionally choked to death and yet, the grand jury decided no indictment against the police, I think there should be a review or if you like, an overhaul of the juror selection procedures in this country. From the verdicts of the Michael Brown and the latest Eric Garner cases, Ive to the conclusion that the use of grand juries in high profile police killings needs serious scrutiny. I shudder to think most of the folks selected to sit on these cases as jurors do not qualify for the job because they do not understand the cases they are tasked to adjudicate on. Otherwise, theres no way we can have a verdict of no indictment in an incident involving more than 2 policemen collaborating to chokehold an unarmed civilian whod screamed in the process I cant breath 11 times till he died, even if he was selling cocaine on the street. For goodness sake, a medical examiner ruled Garners death a homicide in part resulting from the chokehold, a restraining move banned by the NYPD itself in 1993! And the grand jury said what? Well to me, this is a systemic problem that needs to be addressed by officialdom and we all have to be concerned about it because its becoming a commonplace!!! Eric Garner is a family man who should be with us by now, but due to the carelessness and lack of professionalism on the part of some police officers, hes languishing in the grave now. Im outraged!
