I know I am bombarding your news feed with Police Scotland stuff, but this is something which will effect the whole of Grampian. If you have been lucky enough not to have used the 101 number, then perhaps you dont see the what all the fuss is about. We take non-emergency calls from everyone calling from Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City. We deal with a vast range of queries from Members of the public and give advise when needed. We also complete Crime reports, Intel reports, Missing person reports, Lost reports, create incidents for ongoing issues as well as much more. We aim to resolve as much as we can within the centre, so it does not have to be passed onto police officers, so they can get on with the business of policing. We take calls from the social work dept, council and schools passing on information, and creating reports and incidents when required. I am going on a bit now, but the point is that there is no assurance that Grampian will receive the same, or as high quality a service as they receive now (see the link below) when the service moves to the central belt. Kenny MacAskill said less than 2 years ago - This is a well-deserved accolade for Grampian Police and a strong endorsement of the good work undertaken by the service centre team. The service centre is helping ensure the people of the north-east receive first-class policing, and we will seek to continue that high level of service when the new police service of Scotland is established.” If we are instrumental in helping to provide first class policing, then why would they get rid of this first class service centre? Do the people of Grampian want to take that chance? Along with our collegues in the 999 control room, we are looking for your support in showing that it shouldnt be up to people who do not care about local services and people. My biggest rant to date.
