I know I said I wouldnt tell people how to vote. I changed my mind. The farthest-reaching (non)argument for repeal of ordinance 5703 is the bathroom issue which makes absolutely no sense. Transgender people already use the bathrooms of their preferred genders and most people dont bat an eye. This law wont affect that. Look at the images in this post (both of transgender people). Arent you more comfortable with them using the bathrooms of their preferred genders? Again, Chapter 119s success or failure doesnt affect peoples bathroom rights or decisions either way, nor does it legalize rape or molestation or any other unlawful act. Where did that come from??? This ordinance, like over 200 others passed in cities across the nation, adds another layer of protection against discrimination for everyone. It provides a badly-needed voice for the voiceless in our community, which strengthens us all. Lets move away from xenophobia and toward understanding.
