I know many of you are sick of the political ads and posts on FB/TV. Unfortunately, the future of public education depends on the people who are elected to the legislature. And, since I am passionate about our students and employees in public schools, I will do everything in my power to protect them. I have been a part of the Montgomery politics for the past 6 years and I am disappointed and frustrated with the party political games being played and the blatant attacks on public education....this is their effort to change public schools to charter schools so some business can get rich off of them. They have voted to take money away from the neediest children in public schools and give that money to the wealthy who can afford private schools. I could write a book but I will just say this.....we need ALL voters to go to the polls Tuesday and vote for CHANGE! Please vote for candidates who will support our public schools. I am listing below the candidates I recommend in a few local races. If I miss any in your area, I will be happy to give you a recommendation. There are reasons we are not supporting certain candidates and if you would like to know specifics, please ask. Thank you for reading and considering my recommendations! HOUSE DISTRICTS: HD 5 (Limestone County area): Bobby Jackson (R) HD 9 (Arab area, Morgan and Cullman Counties) Melvin Hastings (R) HD 21 (Hazel Green, Meridianville, Huntsville, New Market) Terry Jones (D) HD 22 (Gurley, New Hope, OXR, Hazel Green, New Market Scottsboro, Skyline, Hytop, Pleasant Grove) Ritchie Whorton (R) HD 23 (Scottsboro/Jackson County) John Robinson (D) HD 26 (Marshall County, Grant/Guntersville Areas) Ginger Fletcher (R) SENATE DISTRICTS: SD 1 (Part of North Madison County, across to Florence area) Mike Curtis (D) SD 7 (Huntsville/Madison County area) Paul Sanford in Republican Primary Mitchell Howie in Democratic Primary SD 8 (Madison, Jackson and Dekalb Counties) Todd Greeson (R)
