I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were one or the other. But, because you are LUKEWARM, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am RICH, have become WEALTHY, and have NEED of NOTHING’; and you dont realized that you are WRETCHED, MISERABLE, POOR, BLIND, and NAKED Rev. 3:15,17 What an awful, horrible, TERRIFYING vision the Lord reveals to us here, of the church at Laodicea! Have you ever wondered, How did they fall into such a pathetic state, to where, they made the Lord sick to His stomach?! When we meditate upon such things, we must consider the whole counsel of God. For, 2 Tim 3:16,17 assures us that, ALL Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, THOROUGHLY equipped for every good work Paul in Acts 3:24 says, Yea and all the prophets from Samuel and those that FOLLOW AFTER, as many as have SPOKEN, have likewise FORETOLD of these days Acts 3:24 Jesus in Luke 24:25 declares ..O FOOLS, and SLOW of HEART to BELIEVE all that the prophets have SPOKEN Dear friends, the church of the Laodiceans was not the first time Gods children had fallen into such a sickening condition! Just listen to the prophet Isaiah! I see a TERRIFYING vision: I see the betrayer betraying, the destroyer destroying...My STOMACH ACHES and BURNS with pain. Sharp pangs of ANGUISH are upon me, like those of a woman in LABOR. I grow FAINT when I hear what God is PLANNING...I was DISTRESSED when I heard it; I was DISMAYED when I saw it Is. 21:2,3 LOOK! They are PREPARING a great FEAST. They are SPREADING RUGS for people to sit on. EVERYONE is EATING and DRINKING. But QUICK! GRAB your SHIELDS and PREPARE for BATTLE. You are being ATTACKED! For thus has the Lord said to me: “Go, SET a WATCHMAN, Let him DECLARE what he SEES” Is. 21:5,6 The TERRIFYING vision that Isaiah saw made him, sick to his stomach!! Just as the lukewarm Laodiceans make Christ sick to His stomach!!! Isaiah saw a people who were PREPARING a FEAST; when, they should have been PREPARING for BATTLE!! Isaiah saw a people who were so intent on GRABBING their SUPPER; that they had no intentions of GRABBING their SHIELDS! Isaiah heard the revelry of a people, so preoccupied with SPREADING their RUGS; that they shrugged off the ATTACK of the enemy! So, what happened??! How can so many, time after time, throughout Scripture, grow to be so WRETCHED, MISERABLE, POOR, BLIND, and NAKED??! Heres why! They no longer heeded the WARNINGS of the WATCHMAN! They were too busy having a BLAST; to hear the BLAST of the WATCHMANS TRUMPET! They ignored and therefore abandoned Gods anointed GUARDIANS! They no longer needed them; because, surely, they had all they NEEDED! You see, my friends of God; Laodicea had their ears so stuffed with STUFF; that, they could not hear what the Spirit was saying to the church! Their memories had escaped them; which in turn, kept them in BONDAGE! They had grown SLOW of HEART to BELIEVE all that Jesus had SPOKEN in Luke 21:34-36! “WATCH OUT! Don’t let your HEARTS be DULLED by CAROUSING and drunkenness, and by the WORRIES of this life. Don’t let that day catch you UNAWARE, like a TRAP. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. WATCH therefore, and PRAY that you might be STRONG ENOUGH to ESCAPE these COMING HORRORS and STAND before the Son of Man” Brothers and Sister, I hear the voice of the Spirit echoing throughout my soul, as, He calls to me out of Seir, “WATCHMAN, what of the night? WATCHMAN, what of the night?” The WATCHMAN, said, “The morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, INQUIRE; Return! COME BACK!” Is. 21:11,12
