I look at this differently. Minimum wage is just that - for the minimum effort, the minimum dedication, the minimum skills. Those top wage earners put out the maximum effort, dedicate their all to the project, and have spent years honing their skills, amassing more and more knowledge and information. They are willing to make mistakes and own up to those mistakes but keep going. Of course there is a disparity between the two - there is a big difference. Everyone has a choice to be a minimum wage worker or rise to the top. All it takes is a lifetime of desire to work the hardest, learn the most, accept the most responsibility, and never quitting. (and never expecting someone to just give you something that you don’t deserve).
