I looked out the window this morning and memories came flooding back from a long, long time ago! 68 years ago today, Jan.1st, 1947, we buried my Dad in Trent, Texas. The weather was terrible, iced roads, power lines down, treacherous driving conditions, etc. etc. May not be quite that bad today, but very much akin to it! I had just turned 10, my sister was 5 and my mother was 7 months pregnant with a younger sister to be born in March. I remember barley slipping and sliding to the cemetery, and was told later that they had to use power tools to break the ground to dig the grave. Sad to say, several of his brothers and sisters were unable to attend the services as driving was close to impossible on the highways. Thanks to a loving community, but primarily to The Good Lord, we were able to survive, and able to grow up in a Christian environment that has served us well throughout our lives. We have been richly blessed, and pray that His blessings will be upon each and every one of you during this New Year of 2015!!!!
