I love everything about Abraham Lincoln. Abe was elected on November 6, 1860. However inauguration was not until March 4, 1861. I think if I had been Lincoln I would not have even showed up to become President. So much happened in that time period that created a grave situation. In those 4 months 7 southern states had left the Union and 4 more were about to. Senator Jefferson Davis in February had already been sworn in as president of the Confederate States of America. Davis was from Mississippi. The South was certainly defiant and was preparing for war. Poor Lincoln had all this to face.
