I love the discussions happening! Alhmdulilah. I appreciate all - TopicsExpress

I love the discussions happening! Alhmdulilah. I appreciate all the feedback and criticisms! Truly! My little essay was certainly not an exhaustive or comprehensive dissertation. So heres a bit just to clarify somethings I didnt mention there or have been questioned on my wall: Im glad to hear that some women dont find it distancing or difficult and even look forward to not reading Quran during their menses. I am always on the lookout for differing opinions than my own. Yes, the story of Omar, God be pleased with him. Yes, he was in fact instructed to wash himself before coming into contact with the Quran. I always understood this to fall under the category of the hadith about anger in which we are instructed to make wudu. Water is a balancing element which brought Omar down out of his stupor of anger which allowed the Quran to penetrate his heart. His sister was a smart woman. She knew this benefit of wudu. Yes, Imam Malik and Ibn Taymiya hold a minority opinion. Yes, there was not a written and compiled book. This is not to say that some of what had been revealed was not written down during the life of the Prophet Muhammad, alayhisalatu wasalaam. Now, this whole Ipad/pod/tafsir/translations deal...e on. Who do we think we are tricking? Are plastic and glass any less of a perfect creation of God than paper and ink? Why the distinction? Do they both not contain the word of God. So why is reading on an Ipad okay but not the actual book? Is the ipad fake? My ultimate belief is that a woman on her period is in a constant state of worship while her body releases and renews the alter of life, the place from which we as the servants of the One all come from.
