I love this article SO much! I cant tell you how many times I have felt this way! I have so many times felt that I must be doing something wrong, since Im not exercising with any goals to change my body at all. Thats right. I have NO body-changing fitness goals. I like my body just the way it is, which is inconceivable (automatically wrote that in Princess Bride dudes voice) to so many, especially in the fitness industry. A fellow fitness instructor said to me one day that she too was once where I am now, where she felt like she was in really good shape, but she just wasnt quite there aesthetically. When I told her Im not trying to lose weight, she just kind of blinked at me in shock. (Awkward.) Dont get me wrong-- I love getting stronger. I love mastering a new yoga pose. I love running a little faster, or a little further, or doing an extra pushup on my toes, and I have plenty of THOSE kinds of fitness goals. But Im not trying to lose weight, or make my arms more toned, or shrink my thighs. Im not trying to lose 2 pants sizes or any sizes at all. Im a size 10, sometimes a size 12, but sometimes a size 8, too, and I LIKE IT. Realizing this made me so much happier. I enjoy working out so much more!
