I missed a day, so to compensate Im going to do an extra day cause thats how I roll :) Gratitude Challenge Day 4.5: 1) Im grateful for Gavin Davila. When I first met Gavin during All Shook Up three and a half years ago, I never thought wed be friends, never mind the best of friends. Gavin came into my life shortly after my darkest period and helped me reassemble the broken pieces. He started by getting my into the gym and being my personal trainer (and more often than not, doubling as my therapist during those sessions) and got me on the track to looking at and dealing with my body in a healthy manner. He got me back into going to church on a regular basis and rediscovering my faith. I was welcomed into his family filled with amazing people and made some more amazing friends. He supported me by seeing almost all of my shows, even if he had to drive across the island by himself. And most importantly, he was a constant shoulder to lean (and cry) on, always listening and never judging and doling the best advice and slapped a smile on my face when nothing else would. Our lives are both shifting so we dont see or talk to each other as much as we did, but I know hes always there whenever I need him and Im eternally grateful for how hes helped me turn my life around. 2) Im grateful for my roommates, past and present. Though he was only here for a brief period, it was great having one of my best friends, Scott Johnston, living below me. Hes only been here a short while, but its already been a joy having my dear friend Kevin Hansen living downstairs now. Weve only been roommates a couple of months, Dave Newman is a great balance in this here apartment and its been great finally getting to know him. He filled the room of but will never replace Lauren Amber, who is terribly missed as she has begun a new life in Colorado. My friendship with Phil Firetog has found great resurgence since he moved in downstairs, between midnight walks and/or trips to the diner, hunts across the island for some ice cream, trips to the gym (which we need to get back on top of…), and just general hangout sessions its been amazing having one of my favorite people just downstairs from me. Last but certainly not least, my most frequent roommate from a dorm room to a house in the Hamptons to bringing me to live out here with him, Joseph Michael has been the best roommate a guy could ask for. He puts up with my insanity and my drama and my general messiness and still manages to put up with me and cook me an occasional meal, but always be there as a support system. Hes one of the few people I trust enough to know everything about me, and helps me laugh about my problems when I just wanna scream. Hes made me laugh until my stomach hurts and has consoled me while I cried my face off… Basically, hes one of my favorite people and I love that he just lives across the hall. 3) Im grateful for my brothers, Gene and Christopher Thomas, my sister-in-law Kimberly Smith Kelly, and my precious nephew Lucas. Growing up, we were typical brothers who fought and didnt always get along, but as time has passed I dont know how I would have gotten through this life without them. Our fights are few and far between, if ever, these days and instead we help each other out whenever and however we can. I wish we had this bond growing up, but am beyond thankful we have it now and I love them more than they know. Kim has been an amazing addition to the family and she somehow fits right into this kooky clan, as a bit of normalcy to our insanity. And Mr. Lucas is the most amazing little man I know. Hes adorable beyond words and I didnt think I could love someone else as much as I love him. He brings an eternal smile to my face just by thinking about him and I truly treasure the time I get to spend with him; my greatest regret about moving out is not being able to see him every day. Now, as he asked to be tagged in one of my posts, I nominate one of my dearest friends and one of the best directors and co-stars Ive had the pleasure of working with… Danny Higgins, you are to tell the world 3 things you are grateful for each day for the next 5 days, and elect others to pass on the positivity.
