I n recent years the charismatic preacher has put himself, in an awkward position of superiority. There is a culture of PRAYING for the believers at the end of each and every sermon. In most cases he rushes through the “sermon” and in this “express ala Drive Thru" sermon, he says a whole lot of things that do not make scriptural sense. He does this being in hurry to”DEMONSTRATE POWER”. There are a few problems with this culture: a. It has a way of mocking the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers, thus insinuating that the PREACHER is endowed with greater PROPORTIONS of God’s power more all the rest. b. It has a tendency of making believers to be over dependent on the preacher/pastor, thus putting a preacher in a position of superiority complex. Making believers to be passive and waiting for instructions from the “man of God”. c. Among black believers it makes the preacher a type of a witch doctor, where people can queue to go and collect prescriptions in the form of the holy water, holy oil and pay a consultation fee by “sowing a seed”, thus not buying a MIRACLE but just showing gratitude to the man of God. d. It is a form of “Idolatry” as the “Prophet slash Apostle slash General Overseer slash Spiritual Father” then substitute God and the holy scriptures. People are not in need of God but in need of spiritual manifestations to the problems. The priority not being GOD but a solution to their problems. e. It opens up the believers to a whole lot of spiritualism and occult practices. f. In general it is a PAGAN practice
