I need a good *new* book to read. I am stuck in my old favorites and cant seem to find something that tickles my imagination... do you have any recommendations? I know that many people have a favorite book and I am sure I have not read a fraction of them. What do I like? Good question! I like adventure, fantasy, history, epic story lines, attention to detail, believable romance and friendships, well rounded and compelling characters and so much more. What do I not like? Also a good question! I dislike overly wordy descriptions (Tolkien, you know what you do), weak and one-sided characters, unrealistic or magical conclusions (magic is super cool but it cant fix everything by itself) and hard to read translations. Some of my favorites are: Wicked by Gregory Maguire, The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory, Son of Avonar by Carol Berg and so many more that I might put in comments.
