I need opinions and advice - considering getting a small dog to bark when someone comes up the drive and up to the back door. I dont hear so good and hate feeling vulnerable out here in the country. Buddy & Kadie are awesome dogs but theyre old and arent hearing/ seeing so good no more. I was thinking dachshund because everyone I know with a dachshund the little booger is barking long before Im at their door. Whatever I get needs to get along well with our cats and dogs and also be good with kids. Ive never had a small dog and really want a Rottweiler. Again I am mostly looking for a dog that will alert me when someone is opening our gate, in our driveway, on the porch etc.
