I need to get my finances back on track and one thing I use to do - TopicsExpress

I need to get my finances back on track and one thing I use to do was take note of what I would spend for one week. I kept a small pocket size notebook in my car and wrote it down. The next week I would change up my daily/weekly habits. This would make me more aware of what I was spending my money on and decide if it is a necessity or not. If I spent too much money on getting a cup of coffee a week, I would simply stop getting coffee. If I enjoyed going on to get a few drinks or going out to lunch/dinner, easy enough, I would cut that back drastically. By doing this I noticed how much I spent a week and thought of how I could save more money. I was spending over $10 a week on coffee and a bit over $50 a week going out. The average person will spend over $90 a month on going out a month and an average of $30 - $40 on coffee a month. I know most of us enjoy going out and I am not saying stay in, just look at what you spend and make yourself aware of your habits. The small insignificant things we do everyday will add up over time. Make them positive and count towards a better life.
