I, of all people, certainly understand the schools concern about food allergies. But...the boys involved were 13. People, even young children, with allergies, usually know what will trigger a reaction (if theyve had a reaction to a particular allergen before) and we usually stay away from such triggers. At age 13, I contend the child receiving the offered lunch is certainly old enough and aware enough to avoid accepting something that will trigger an attack. Plus. isnt detention a bit of an over-punishment?
