My Fiancé (Holly) and I rescued our dog Elsie from the Winston-Salem Humane Society two years ago. Elsie is just over two years old, 35 lbs, and is a Border Collie, German Shepherd, Malinois mix. She went through a two-week training program with the Dog Wizard, and understands most basic commands; sit, place, stay, heel, etc. Elsie is the most loving dog that I have ever come across with a huge heart. She absolutely loves affection and will cuddle up with anyone. She gets along well with other dogs and people, and the only times we have seen her skittish is around things with wheels (baby carriages, skateboards, bicycles, motorcycles). People are often surprised at how small she is for her breed; she is about 18 inches tall, and is a very cute looking dog. See the attached pictures. On Monday, Holly went to give Elsie a good-night kiss (which she always does), and Elsie woke up startled and bit Holly in the face. Holly had to have stitches but will be OK. Elsie has never showed this type of behavior before, and we are totally taken back by the situation.
