I often see comments regarding cost of puppies being ridiculous, - TopicsExpress

I often see comments regarding cost of puppies being ridiculous, out of this world, astronomical. I have noticed a trend, though, among the breeders reports: regardless the cost of their puppies, they all seem to hear the same comments. From a $400 dog to a $8,000 dog. Doesnt this effectively mute the claims by some that certain dogs carry too high a price? Doesnt it speak to the fact that regardless of what you charge for your puppies, someone will always feel your price tag is too high? There will always be THOSE people. How do you justify the cost of your puppies? Do you follow industry standards? Do you follow the pricing in your area even though it may be drastically different from everywhere else? And if you feel a specific breed carries a price you would never pay....why wouldnt you? It isnt enough to say, I wouldnt pay 5k for a Neo cuz I dont like the look/size if them. The question is regarding value, not preference. **note- lets not fixate on doodles and other designer crosses. There are MANY breeds that sell for far more than the most expensive designer dog. -ruff life
