I often try to avoid reading newspapers as its usually bad news. There are suicide bombers in Russia who are trying to sabotage the Olympic games, Ukrainian protesters are being sent warnings from the government by text messages taking away any rights they may have to voice their discontent with the suppressive system. Thailand is in a state of emergency and it goes on and on. This is the shadow side of human nature. The only way we can transcend the shadow is to first understand it and work with it within ourselves. As we become friends with our shadow we can start making a difference to others. Although there is so much violence in the world, most peoples strongest desires are simply to be safe, heard, loved and cared for.
