I only just found out last night that The Upstate lost another fine musician... Tony Smith, the bassist for The Gas Holes passed away on Thursday... My heart goes out to his friends and family, and to The Gas Holes group members and their fans. I only met Tony a couple times, and oddly enough, it wasnt music related, I had hired him to do some welding. I did catch his group a few times, and we talked a good bit in message and on various facebook groups/pages. He offered multiple times to show me his toys and I didnt do that and regret not taking time out of my day to swing by his place. So with that, Im going to present a challenge... Lets try to get to know each other a little better. Lets hang out, chill... Do more than attend each others shows. Lets grab a bite, have a beer, have a casual jam, etc... Lets take our friendships beyond social media and a handshake at the music store.
