I play devils advocate a lot, particularly when I dont have a strong opinion about something. I like to challenge people to really think about WHY they believe what they do. I always have, and if youre my friend you know that. I like to dig down and find the truth. The underlying reasons. And I accept that my friends do that for me. (In fact, friends challenging me have occasionally brought about complete 180 degree shifts in what I believe and how I think... and I live for those moments.) So challenge me. Question me. Make me see your point of view. Im not at all set in my beliefs, and they change with new evidence. That does not make me flaky, it makes me a scientist. A student. Someone ever-willing to learn something new. I have TWICE this week been shown that what I believed to be true was in fact wrong. The difference in me and most people is that this didnt make me feel defensive, or like I was stupid or had failed, it made me feel like I had learned something. And that made me feel good! So teach me, but only if youre also willing to learn...
