I pull into town for the night, right on the Oklahoma/Texas border. Hop into a liquor store and buy a couple of snacks for dinner. As Im eating some of my purchases outside, a man asks where the border is as he looks at his phone trying to gauge a sense of directions. We get talking about my cross country adventure and his 2 day driving trip from northwest Illinois to Phoenix. Long story short... He asks if Id like a ride to Phoenix. We would drive straight to the city and arrive 8am tomorrow morning. I hesitate. This scenario has played many times over in my head and now that the opportunity has presented itself I have no clue what to say. I way all the options and come to the conclusion to say no thank you.
