I read something interesting the other day about the need to temper Americas mythical, rugged Individualism with a return to good, old-fashioned Interdependency. By following the gods of greed, self-gratification and disinterest in our fellow man, we have turned away from other traditional concepts such as altruism, compassion and dedication to something larger than ourselves. Happiness comes from seeking a higher cause. The cause can be a club, service organization, religion, family or friends. It doesnt matter what the higher cause is, as long as it benefits others... Or, as the song says, You can go your own way, You can call it another lonely day...
