I realized today Ive been pushing back so hard philosophically against the new agey pseudoscientists, creationists, and climate deniers, and gone so hardline pure science that Ive completely lost touch with the spiritual side of things. Whenever I do this I begin having these moments where I feel completely overwhelmed by spirit as a result of certain triggers. One of these triggers is typically devotional music from almost any culture (seriously from kirtan to christian contemporary, it all makes my eyes well up), and ironically enough more recently certain episodes of Neil Degrasse Tysons Cosmos have got me completely choked up. Something about seeing how infinitely tiny and enormous we are simultaneously and the vastness of our universe and the universe inside of us, completely makes my head spin. Im not affiliated with any particular religion but find a yearning from deep within me to practice some type of worship and devotion to some creative force much greater than any of us. I dont think it really matters who or what you call it if the feeling is there and it works you know it. Sometimes I wonder if there are others that feel like I do and what it would look like if we came up with our own remixed, hodgepodge, freestyle system completely free of dogma and focused entirely on love and devotion.
