I really should write a book on how to save money. If you wear - TopicsExpress

I really should write a book on how to save money. If you wear glasses, hang on to this one. I wear glasses by a company called Silouette. Very expensive light frames that come with polycarbonate lenses. Costs about $700 or $500 after insurance. The problem is the anti-reflective lens coating wears after about 2 years leaving a spiderweb effect for which the glare when driving makes you want to replace them. The lenses cost $300. So I go get new ones.... But ask to have the old lenses. Off to eBay. Someone is selling my identical frame for $50 that doesnt even have a scratch on it but of course has the wrong prescription. You send those glasses with your old lenses to lensesrx. $50 for regular lenses ( which I chose as a spare pair ) or $150 with the coating. So I basically have a pair worth $700 glasses that cost me $100 and without the coating I dont even want. To me, that a virtual saving of $600 because if I wanted another identical pair from my optometrist, its $700.
