I recall circa 1973/74 Julian Mayfield who was Senior Political Advisor to Forbes Burnham warning colleagues in the Ministry of Information: ‘GUYANA IS FACING A CRISIS’…they all laughed. Four decades later the same can be said of Guyana…only difference today is that the problem is exacerbated for want of visionary leadership…there’s not a single futuristic idea emanating from the Jagdeo/Romotar Government to inspire hopeful imaginations; nothing to match Burnham’s challenge/our thrust to : ‘FEED HOUSE & CLOTHE THE NATION .…instead we witness the relentless dismantling of all our past gains; the deliberate marginalization of those with progressive ideas, will and expertise…ready to contribute to Guyana’ development once they served the old regime; in sum institutional racism served by revisionist history. If it is not physically possible for you to be at Bagotville Community Centre on Sunday...alert relatives...friends in Guyana...encourage them to make an effort to attend this forum.
