I received contact from someone who claimed to be a journalist in Indonesia and requested an interview regarding the Palm Oil Protests. I asked him to email me as it sounded odd and out of interest, I thought Id post his email here. He obviously knows full well the answer to all the questions hes asking and probably works for the Palm Oil Industry on some level: Hi, Apologies for the delay. I have been traveling. Just a few questions: Id First, your name and title. - why push for a boycott of palm oil, especially as the alternative vegetable oils require more land for less production? - how successful has the campaign been so far? - what do you consider a measure of success? - palm oil and its derivatives are used in roughly half the packaged goods on supermarket shelve - how can you fight that? - because of its productivity, palm oil helps lift many out of poverty, what do you suggest for them? - what prompted you to start this campaign?
