I received this email last night: Your article on carageenan - TopicsExpress

I received this email last night: Your article on carageenan [sic] doesnt account for the Fukushima nuclear disaster and the massive amounts of radiation it is still dumping into our oceans. Seaweed from the open oceans is no longer safe. Otherwise, thanks for doing what you do. My response: Unfortunately I cant account for all the worlds problems. Carrageenan is farmed from many places around the world, not just the Indo-Pacific. If it is a health concern for the individual, it should be avoided - as I mentioned at the end of the article. By this same token, if this is a concern, any and all seaweed should be avoided. No agar, no nori, no wakame, no kombu, etc.. Which means no more vegan sushi; no more miso soup with seaweed; no more seaweed salad, nor any other nutritious plant-based dish containing seaweed. Sorry folks, I cant live my life with that kind of dietary paranoia. Everyone is going to die eventually; even vegans.
