I recently was notified that Trillium theater in Grand Blanc changed their policy regarding guns. In order to confirm this change I emailed them. This is the response I got today and my reply..... Hello Kenneth, I recently received your email regarding our No Guns policy at our NCG Grand Blanc location. We have had a policy at this location since September of last year that this theater has a No Gun policy and have posted our attendance that we have seating capacity for over 2500 seats which is actually the minimum of number of seats allowed before it is illegal to carry a firearm in an establishment of this size. I do apologize for the inconvenience and if you have any other questions please let me know. Thanks, Tim Dilts Marketing Director & Regional Manager My reply, Tim, Thank you for taking the time to reply to my inquiry. I would like to point out your information is incorrect. While it is true that concealed carry inside of an entertainment facility is prohibited, a person may legally open carry if they have a valid CPL. For your convince, this link to Michigan State Police legal update number 86 will cite all laws surrounding this activity. (michigan.gov/documents/msp/MSP_Legal_Update_No._86_2_336854_7.pdf) I would ask that you and your company reconsider this policy. Time and time again it has been shown that a, “no guns” sign does not deter those wishing to do harm to your patrons. That lesson was learned in a theater not unlike yours in Aurora, Colorado. However, a CPL holder or off duty law enforcement officer could stop such a threat, saving other patrons great bodily harm or possibly their lives. Please notify me if you change your policy. Until that time I will be sure to notify the Michigan gun rights organizations and law enforcement organizations that we should visit another theater for our own safety. Thank you for your consideration. Respectfully, Kenneth Herman Just received this and waiting for a call.... Kenneth, Is there a phone number I could call you to discuss this? Thanks, Tim Dilts Marketing Director & Regional Manager
