I refers to (Khalid Rasool Khan) Now Hyderabadis can have a late night snack without fear of the Police. What a little vision coupled with courage and alert Governance can achieve: Mr KCR kept saying that he wants to make Hyderabad a world class city. Good enough, but I was concerned that the way our police used to shut down the whole city at 10.30-11.00 PM (Including eating joints etc) was outdated and needed to be phased out! Esp. since Hyd is Hi-tec city, it needs places for our techies to eat in the nights. This system of closing down an entire city at 11.00 PM is a carry-over from the British Raj days. I met KTR and gave him a letter in this respect asking him to take action. Mr KTR took me to the Police Commissioner, Mr Mahender Reddy who happened to be in the same Iftar. Mr Mahender Reddy listened to me patiently and promised to look into this. Then the next week I happened to sit with our Home Minister, Mr Nayani Narsimha Reddy and to him too, I gave the same explanation of why he should ask the police not to shut down eating joints etc. He said that it may lead to a Law&Order problem. ON this I told him; look since one month in this Ramazan, all eating places have been left open all night, has this led to any Law&Order problem? He appreciated and also promised to look into this. Now I am glad to report that the Hon. Police Commissioner, Mr Mahender Reddy is a sterling officer and so is the the Hon Home Minister, who have given orders not to close restaurants at 11.00 PM by force, and we see so much “chahel-Pahel” late into the night. That is the way, a modern city is supposed to function. I thank our TRS leaders for showing vision and acting promptly on my suggestions. Thank you.
